My Royal Heinie: A Six Month Check-Up
February 17th, 2007
Now that My Royal Heinie is six months old, I am finding myself reflecting back to the time when my daughter had reached that exciting milestone. She had blossomed from infancy into babyhood, and all the sleepless nights were safely behind us. We knew what to expect and could anticipate her wants and needs. We had strategies, plans, routines. She was no longer this strange alien who had suddenly arrived in our lives. We knew her intimately.
Or so we thought….
Just like in business, parenthood teaches us to never assume and always be ready for a curveball. You have to be flexible and fast, while staying the course and keeping your cool. Raising kids is a marathon that you’re never fully trained for, but we keep doing our best no matter what.
Six months into My Royal Heinie, we have raised our product up from an idea into a product that is actually being used happily by moms (even moms we’ve never met!) and although we have had our fair share of growing pains, we are seeing that just like our six month old children were, My Royal Heinie is wholeheartedly worth the effort.
Being a mompreneur has a unique set of challenges. We couldn’t have come this far without the support of our families, of course, but also from other mom-owned businesses and people in the industry. Sites like Mom Inventors http://www.mominventors.com/, Mompreneurs Online http://www.mompreneursonline.com/ and Mom Central http://www.momcentral.com/ inspire us everyday. People like Stacey from Cedar Valley Publishing http://www.cedarvalleypublishing.net/home.asp, Carrie from Los Pollitos Dicen http://www.lospollitosdicen.biz/, and Leslie from Lucky Jade http://www.luckyjadeproducts.com/ have become fast friends who we can call on for advice and inspiration. Great blog sites run by moms who search for the newest and best products to share with other moms - Swanky Moms http://www.swankymoms.com/, Mommies with Style http://www.mommieswithstyle.com/mtblog/ and She Finds Moms http://shefindsmom.com/index.php to name just a few — are helping to change the juvenille products industry into one that is truly for the people, by the people.
With that, we’re excited for this next stage of our “baby’s” development. Who knows what lies ahead.
